A range of conservation measures have been put in place, and more are planned.
- Ten metre strips of land beside river banks have been left uncultivated to limit seepage of
agricultural additives and to provide premium wildlife habitat
- Cover crops recommended by the RSPB are maintained in selected areas of the farm adjacent to hedges and copses to
provide optimum habitat for both large and small birds. Hedges are cut in alternate years to minimise distrubance.
- The Farm is part of the Volunteer/Farmer Alliance scheme run by the RSPB and is surveyed by the RSPB volunteers for bird
population dynamics.
- An otter holt has been built in a discrete river bank location. There have been recent sightings of otters on the
farm.
- There is a fossil bed SSSI in the area of Stonepit Copse.
- Bird nesting boxes, including a barn owl box, have been erected in appropriate positions.
- A low lying meadow with two ponds and marshy areas beside the Arun River and Slinfold Stream is maintained as a
wilderness refuge for wildlife.
In addition there are several footpaths and two bridal paths on the farm, which are maintained to ensure ease of
access. With the refurbishment of newbuildings, several other conversation measures will be incorporated.
